Prof. Eric Ofosu Antwi has held the position of Director for the Regional Center for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES) since October 2019. As the Director of RCEES, a World Bank-funded project under the African Centres of Excellence for Development Impact (ACE Impact), he facilitated the construction of an ultramodern Centre of Excellence at UENR. The RCEES has attracted students from 13 African countries to the University and has also assisted the University in achieving international accreditation for their MSc and PhD programs, marking a significant milestone for the university. Recently, he was honored by the World Bank for his outstanding leadership, which has propelled RCEES to be among the top 10 performing Centres of Excellence in the ACE IMPACT Project, out of a total of 46 Centres of Excellence.
Prof. Ofosu Antwi is a Civil Engineer with over 20 years of post-qualification experience and holds the position of Associate Professor at the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR). As the first Academic Staff member appointed at UENR, he served as the Foundation Head of the Energy and Environmental Engineering Department. He also played a key role in introducing crucial programs such as BSc Electrical Engineering, BSc Mechanical Engineering, MSc/PhD Sustainable Energy Management, and MSc/PhD Environmental Engineering Management at UENR. Through his projects, he successfully raised funds to initiate the first Postgraduate Programs at UENR. Additionally, he served as the Acting Director of Works during the university’s inception, contributing to the development of major infrastructure currently in use.
Prof. Ofosu Antwi presently sits on the University Council as a representative of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), having been elected by his fellow Professors and Lecturers.
He currently holds the position of Regional Coordinator for the West Africa Centres of Excellence in Energy (WACEENET), a multinational network of Centres of Excellence in the thematic area of Energy. Furthermore, he serves as the Secretary to the Tripartite Committee Board for Energy Certification in West Africa, formed by the ECOWAS Commission. From 2014 to 2018, Prof. Ofosu Antwi served as the Board Chairman of the Brong Ahafo Waste Company Ltd, a subsidiary of the JOSPONG Group of Companies, and as the Regional Chairman of the Ghana Institution of Engineering for the Brong Ahafo Region from 2015 to 2020.
Prof. Ofosu Antwi consults for multinational companies and developmental organizations, including the World Bank and the Africa Development Bank, on assignments related to Energy and Water Resources Management. Together with his team members, he has secured major projects for the University, raising over 13 million US$ in grants and consultancy services. His professional expertise spans Project Management, Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Energy Management, Solar PV, Water Supply Engineering, Water Resources Management, Hydropower Engineering, Drainage, Structural, and Irrigation Engineering in Ghana and the ECOWAS Region.
Prof. Eric Ofosu is a visiting Professor at the Civil Engineering Department of KNUST, The Abdou Moumouni University in Niamey, Niger, and Chandigarh University in India. He has authored over 60 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and books, covering areas such as Water Resources Management, Water-Food-Energy Nexus, Land use Changes, Hydropower, Energy Policy, Energy Management, Irrigation, and Drainage.

Prof. Samuel Gyamfi is an expert in the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sector with a wealth of experience from over 15 years of practice. His main area of interest is in Utility Demand Side Management but he also has interest and experience in Electricity Demand Response Assessment and Modelling, Energy Economics and Policy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy for Developing Countries and Energy Life Cycle Assessment.
He is a member of Engineers Australia and International Solar Energy Society. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resources.

Samuel Akowuah Okyereh is a civil engineer and researcher in environmental engineering. My work focuses on how climate, land use, energy, and water systems affect each other. I am especially interested in how land use, energy production, and water resources are connected and finding solutions that protect the environment and improve people’s lives. I am passionate about reducing the environmental impact of energy changes. My research looks at how we can switch to sustainable energy sources while protecting nature. I have experience working in interdisciplinary research teams with experts from different continents, collaborating on solutions to global environmental challenges.

Academics and Quality Assurance Coordinator
Dr. Nana Osei Ackerson is a Lecturer in environmental engineering at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He holds a BSc in Agricultural Engineering, MSc in Environmental Resources Management, MS in Civil Engineering, and PhD in Environmental Engineering. He worked on the Wellcome Trust funded project, SNOWS (Scientists Networked for Outcomes from Water and Sanitation) Consortium, as a Project Manager. Also, he was the Assistant City Facilitator for the European Commission project, SWITCH (Sustainable Water management Improves Tomorrow’s Cities’ Health) project. Currently, he is the co-Principal Investigator of the WaterAid, UK research-funded project on occupational health and safety of sanitation workers. He has participated in several international research conferences and workshops. Dr. Ackerson’s research focuses on water supply, sanitation and hygiene; fate and transport of micropollutants in water; risk assessment; and disinfection by-product formation in drinking water. He is opened to interdisciplinary research collaboration.

Dr. Felix Amankwah Diawuo is currently a lecturer with the Department of Energy and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) Sunyani-Ghana. At UENR, he is also a research leader at the Regional Centre of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES). Previously, he was a Research Affiliate at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), California, United States (USA). His research interests include clean fuel and energy technologies, supply and demand side management strategies, energy policy, electrical power systems and sustainable cities. He has published several articles in these areas in different reputable international journals. He has participated in a range of energy projects sponsored by the European Commission, the World Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft for Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). He holds a PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems under the MIT Portugal PhD program from the Technical University of Lisbon (IST) and has also completed the EIT KIC InnoEnergy PhD school program. He has a double degree from the Erasmus Mundus European Master program in Environomical Pathways for Sustainable Energy Systems (SELECT) from IST-Portugal and KTH-Sweden. His bachelor education in Electrical and Electronic Engineering was received at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana.

Romeo Tweneboah Koduah is a seasoned Communications and Community Outreach Specialist with extensive experience in crafting and implementing impactful communication strategies for environmental and sustainability projects. With a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and public outreach, Romeo has led communications for high-profile initiatives, enhancing project visibility and fostering community involvement.
Currently, Romeo serves as the Senior Technical Officer and Project Communications Specialist at the Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES). In this capacity, he spearheads outreach efforts, develops strategic communication plans, and coordinates international collaborations that amplify project goals. His expertise in designing and executing stakeholder workshops and community engagement initiatives has been pivotal in ensuring that complex project objectives are communicated effectively.
Romeo’s role as Environment and Communications Expert for UNEP’s Climate Smart Agriculture Project showcased his ability to integrate scientific knowledge into relatable, actionable communication frameworks. His leadership in communications projects for organizations such as the Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES), UNEP, the African Development Bank (AfDB) under the SUSTAINDAM project, BMZ-funded Solar-Powered Irrigation Systems (SPIS) initiative, Climate Compatible Growth, EU Horizon's EPIC Africa project, and the MoNAL project for the University of Bochum further highlights his proficiency in digital content creation, public engagement, and building partnerships that resonate with diverse audiences.

Ing. Emmanuel Yeboah Asuamah is a Research Fellow at the Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES), University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR). With over nine years of post-qualification experience in research and teaching, he specializes in energy systems, renewable energy technologies, and sustainable energy management.
He holds an MSc in Sustainable Energy Management, a BSc in Renewable Energy Engineering, and a BTech in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. His expertise spans renewable energy system design, installation, energy policy, and planning, with proficiency in utilizing modern tools for the design and assessment of energy systems.
In addition to his academic and research contributions, Ing. Asuamah has provided consulting services for organizations such as USAID, UNICEF, the African Union Commission, Economic Consulting Associates (ECA), KITE, and Ghana’s Ministry of Energy. His professional experience integrates academia with practical industry engagements, where he has contributed as a part-time engineer and independent energy consultant.

Dr. Benjamin Batinge

Dr. Benjamin Batinge is a Research Fellow at the University of Energy and Natural Resources’ Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES). He also worked as a Climate Finance and Policy Consultant with Sustainable Solutions for Africa (SSA). Dr Batinge has previously worked as a Climate Finance Consultant for the United Nations’ (UN) Climate Technology Centre Network and as a Senior Researcher with DNV GL’s Energy Transition unit in Oslo, Norway. Additionally, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and a visiting lecturer at Mozambique’s Eduardo Mondlane University. He has provided consulting services to a variety of organisations, including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Liberian government. Dr. Batinge holds a PhD in Public and Development Management from Stellenbosch University, an MPhil in System Dynamics from the University of Bergen, and a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Ghana. His research interests include energy transitions, energy access in developing countries, renewable energy and assessment of energy access, climate change and its effects on infrastructure, and sustainable development.

“Eric is a Junior Assistant Registrar representing the Registrar at the Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES).
He holds a Master of Commerce “MCom” – Human Resources Option (with thesis) degree from the University for Development Studies, Tamale and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Institute of Professional Studies, Accra.
Appointed in the Registrar’s Offices in 2014 of the University, he was subsequently posted to the School Natural Resources (Dean’s Office). Eric held the fort for the Registrar in the School for about five (5) years. While there, he was the secretary to the Deans and had oversight responsibility for six (6) Academic Departments. As Secretary, he coordinated and recorded minutes of School Board/Departmental meetings. Additionally, persevering Eric served all sub-committees and ad-hoc committees of the School.
Prior to joining the University of Energy and Natural Resources, he worked with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology as a volunteer.
Eric also worked with the Tamale Teaching Hospital and the Ghana Education Service before furthering his education.
Eric is a self-motivated and proactive administrator with passion to developing himself by exploring the skill in the policy and practice of human resource management and administration especially in Ghana’s higher education sector.
He is also keen on providing the necessary support for institutional growth imbibing the philosophy of “brightening the corner” aim at helping the organisation to achieve its goals.”
